I don’t even know where to begin, or how to even remotely do this justice. Suji and Jits got married at Blue bay Beach Resort on the African island of Zanzibar, and they flew me out with them to photograph it all. A three day Indian wedding. One of the best experiences of my life.
This was my first time to Africa, and it all became suddenly real when we stepped off the plane into an indescribable heat. The hottest place on earth at the time. We bundled into a couple of mini-buses, and raced (quite literally) through the streets to the Blue Bay Beach Resort for the wedding. What a special location and setting for which was a truly beautiful wedding. Now, as this is an Indian wedding, we had three days of ceremonies, food and parties. This is day 1, only one day of three!
Suji got ready in her villa near the beach, whilst the stage for the wedding was being built by the sea. I still can’t get over the colours of the sea. Only a mile out from the white sands of the coast was coral reefs giving it this incredible colour. Suji’s proud dad walked her down the sandy isle. Almost immediately after the ceremony, after a few group photos, I couldn’t believe but they headed for the pool. Fully dressed, no waiting and jumped right in. There was only one place to get the best photos as the bridemaids and guests lined-up to jump in to, and that was for me to get in the pool myself. So i did, camera in hand.
I feel like my words have done no justice of this experience up to the end of the first day. The second and third days are to come. Below is just a sample of the photos from the beginning of their Blue Bay Resort wedding photograph. Please have a look through an comment at the bottom.
