DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY, WHAT IS THAT?

It’s a mind-set, a philosophy, how I would approach your day. I believe that if something is staged, then it has no meaning at all, no matter how good the photo looks. If a moment is captured, without stopping, posing, or any interaction from myself, then that photo will have genuine sentimental value. So for almost the entire day, to shoot in a documentary style, I need you to forget I am there, just enjoy your day and let events flow naturally. Read more about me.

DO YOU DO FAMILY GROUP SHOTS?

Of course! Not every couples wants family group photos, but most do. This part is not documentary but are sometimes very important, even if they are just for mum or nan. I have mastered doing these quickly so it doesn’t eat too much into your time relaxing and having fun with family and friends. 8 groups take me approx 10-15 minutes.

Photographing both the bride and groom preparations?

I work on my own for weddings. A second photographer is not required to capture both bride and groom preparations, I can easily do this myself. As long as the distance between you isn’t more than 30 minutes, I can schedule the best time to visit the groom for 30 minutes, this is all is required. Most of the preparation time is spent with the bride, but I like to be at the ceremony location 30 minutes before the wedding ceremony so I can be around to get more of the groom and guests arriving.

HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL TO WEDDINGS?

As far as I am needed. Half my weddings are in Manchester and the north-west, the other half are up and down the country, including Scotland, Wales and London. If I need to travel further than 100 miles then I ask for a nights accommodation the day before the wedding to ensure I arrive without traffic issues and fresh legs. I am available for destination weddings too with my furthest wedding being in Zanzibar, Tanzania and I have Italy and New York City coming up. Although I am a wedding photographer based in Manchester, I travel anywhere in the world.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS AFTER OUR WEDDING DAY?

It depends on how many weddings I have photographed just before yours, but it usually takes between 4 and 8 weeks. Around 4-6 weeks for November to May weddings, 6-8 weeks for June to October weddings.

HOW MANY PHOTOS DO WE GET?

There is no limit to the number of photos you will receive, but usually it is between 400 and 500 – each one fully edited to the highest possible standard and consistent with the look of my photos you can see on my website.

CAN WE PRINT THE PHOTOS?

Absolutely! You receive all the 400+ fully edited images via digital download with permission to use them for personal use. Share the gallery link and password with anyone anywhere in the world and they will be able to view and download the images to share and print themselves. There is also a specialist app for iOS and Android which is the best way to view and download your images for tablets or mobile.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH DETAILS SUCH AS DRESS AND SHOES?

Yes, but naturally. I’m going to show off the dress and shoes as part of the day, not as a ‘posed’ photo, and certainly not hung from a tree. I want to show off the dress detail whilst you are wearing it, the same for your shoes. This then has more meaning. I ask you hang your dress up somewhere near you when you are getting ready and it will naturally feature in the photos as the day is unfolding. Please read more about my awards and published work.

LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT?

I love capturing real moments. To be honest, I get bored photographing the same things, so get all excited looking for new ones. Many of the photos I take, I could never have created myself, even if you gave me an hour. The expressions, the laughter, the mood and feeling of the photo – it’s real, this can’t be created. The photo opposite. It tickles me, and I hope it tickles you. Auntie reacting to the magicians antics. Only Anna and Ross have this photo. I’m excited to create unique photos for you. Please contact me to see if I am free for your wedding day in Manchester or any other location.
