Colshaw Hall Wedding Photographer

I love being a Colshaw Hall wedding photographer. When Paul and Heather asked me to photograph their day at this wonderful Cheshire venue I was absolutely delighted. It was even more special because Paul works in the industry, who clearly knows his stuff when it comes to capturing moments at weddings. I simply couldn’t wait to photograph their day at Colshaw Hall and it proved just incredible.

Getting married at Colshaw Hall?

Heather, along with her bridesmaids, flower girls and the couples baby daughter, got ready at her family home. Whereas Paul and the groomsmen had their wedding preparations away from Colshaw Hall at their own home. The final stages of getting ready, including putting on the wedding dress happened at Colshaw Hall. The ceremony room at this spectacular venue is called The Stables and is just perfect for ceremonies. I offer a totally relaxed and natural approach to the day, without posing you. The bride and her bridesmaids made the short trip over to be married via gold cart which is quite a bit of fun, before heading down the isle. The ceremony as that much more special because they had their baby daughter with them also.

Natural Wedding Photography Style

After the ceremony the guests headed outside to toss confetti over the newlyweds, before then making the short walk up to the main building of Colshaw Hall for their drinks reception. As the day got warmer and brighter, the guests headed outside in the courtyard to play lawn games and for the formal family portraits. Heather and Paul went for a walk around the grounds for their own photos together. We did this again later in the evening when the sun was setting. This beautiful wedding day at Colshaw Hall continued with emotional speeches, a quiz, cake cutting and then the first dance and party. It was such a pleasure to be part of such a wonderful day. Below is just a small sequence of photos that the newly married couple received. My style of photography is documentary which means I ask you just enjoy your day – no posing at all. A big thank you to Dan Wimble who shadowed me at this wedding.

A luxury Cheshire Wedding

For an idyllic venue in the country with a splendid manor house and sublime grounds, historic Colshaw Hall is a romantic, dazzling choice for weddings. A stupendous red-brick manor house, located in the heart of Cheshire’s charming, rural landscape, Grade II-listed Colshaw Hall is a private-hire, luxury venue. Situated close to Knutsford, Colshaw Hall is easy to get to from the local cities. Built in 1903, the Hall is a splendid mock-Tudor style building with a slate roof, mullioned windows, half-timbering and herringbone brickwork. Designed by the renowned architect, Douglas Hall, Colshaw is one of over 500 buildings across northern England and Wales that Hall designed, which includes Eaton Hall.

Hall built by the Colshaw Family

Originally created for the Colshaw family, the Hall has been lovingly restored by the Irlam family and is available for exclusive use on your wedding day. For your ceremony, The Stables offers an exquisite space, surrounded by nature, right by the lake. With light flooding the room from every side, the huge space is topped off with leaded windows, oak beams, Chiavari chairs, marble flooring and a baby grand piano. This looks great in wedding photos. Alternatively, you may prefer to get married in the open, to soak up a full view of the ravishing grounds. The ever-present manor house is yours to use for the day too.

Wedding photography around the spectacular grounds

Looking out onto Colshaw’s breath-taking grounds, the sumptuous, modern Peel Suite, with its memorable bar, un-ending windows, hi-tech facilities and divine gardens, is a knockout space for your drinks, wedding breakfast and dancing. Colshaw Hall’s 300-acre palatial grounds, are legendary. From the nine-hole golf course to the waterfall, Japanese-style garden, kaleidoscope of flowers and manicured lawns, the expanse of space and plants is astounding. Photos here and around the grounds are just stunning. Food here is simply splendid. Be tempted with lemon and rosemary- roasted Poussin, tian of Scottish salmon, chocolate marquis and lots more. The experienced, in-house team work with flair and passion to deliver magnificent dishes that impress.

There is plenty of accommodation on hand for your guests that want to stay. The eighteen rooms on offer include: seven en-suites in the main Hall, seven rooms in the Courtyard Cottage and four rooms between Irlam Lodge and the Eco Lodges. Colshaw Hall isn’t just great for weddings, but for staying anytime. Photography here is also world class, using all the features of the building. For the evening, the Colshaw Hall’s facilities include all you need for a live band or DJ. Outside, there is plenty of space to park, including a helipad for a helicopter – just in case. Everything you need to ensure that your wedding goes off with a bang. The family team are open and accommodating to your needs. On hand to assist you from beginning to end of your wedding photography, the Colshaw team are warm, friendly and experienced.

Text message from Sandra (Heather’s Mum):

“Hi David, I just want to say we have been blown away by the photographers, I actually sobbed all the way through Heather & Paul’s wedding photography slideshow at Colshaw Hall and when I first saw it and it took quite a few viewings before I could watch it without crying!! The collection of pics you took is nothing short of spectacular and you captured the day in the most natural way possible with wonderful detail to the most moving parts of our very special family day. It has been a delight to look effortlessly back through the photos how our guests spent their day and everybody has a beautiful picture of themselves to treasure, particularly the parents of the children. Thank you so much for giving us the very special gift of the day to treasure in all its natural, emotional, and fun glory.”
