The Holford Estate Wedding Photography | Sharon & Penny

Scroll

This was my first time as a The Holford Estate wedding photographer and I was very much looking forward to capturing a wedding here. Sharon & Penny were having a very relaxed day with their nearest and dearest. being November it was going to be cold, but this just didn’t matter as the Holford Estate’s space is very warm and cosy. On arrival i was greeted with the stables being seen to, and a flurry of activity with the chairs for the ceremony being set up. Both Sharon and Penny had their preparations together and even helped each other into their wedding dresses. This all happened upstairs in the bridal suit. It was lovely to capture with the camera these moments together.

All their guests congregated downstairs in the wedding barn and they walked down the isle together. Such a special and meaningful ceremony to photograph. At the end of the ceremony everybody sang an Abba song, and the celebrant even wore Abba style shoes. It was then straight into drinks and canapés. Everyone was so proud and happy for the newlyweds and their marriage that they all came up to them and gave them a huge congratulations and hugs. The couple wanted a couple of formal family photos in the garden’s of Holford Estate. The walked over, and the newly married couple stole a few moments to relaxed. It was then confetti and a small walk around the grounds to get some The Holford Estate wedding photos together.

The day continued with a lovely meal, games of Jenga, some wedding speeches. It was then party time. No first dance, everyone just jumped onto the dance floor around the couple and partied the night away. Capturing natural photos at Holford Estate for this wedding was something very special in deed.

The Holford Estate is such a wonderful place for a wedding

There is nothing more spectacular than a contemporary barn conversion, done well. At Holford Estate in Cheshire, that is what you get for your celebration and to be featured in your photography. The extra touch of fairy dust delivered with a big, warm hug. No surprise then, that this is a sought after venue that provides plenty of options for use on the day. The wedding photo opportunities are something else.

Holford Estate’s 18th century wedding barn conversion is a new space sitting in 130 acres of gorgeous manicured grounds. Accessed by a sweeping tree-lined avenue, this is a wonderfully secluded location, that adds to the air of luxury that surrounds the place. With a history that dates back beyond the 1600s, when it was first renovated, Holford Estate is over four hundred years old. It has had many notable occupants including, many generations of the Holford family, one of Cheshire’s most affluent households and John Henry Davis, the founder of Manchester United. The space is huge with wonderfully high ceilings, a mezzanine floor and lots of room to use the barn as you please on your day. Can you imagine how your photos from your wedding will look? Framed with these incredible features, using a range of wide and telephoto lenses, they will just look incredible. A wedding gallery to be proud of.

Weddings at the Estate

Inside, the Barn retains many of its striking original features within its contemporary design, including its impressive oak-beam ceiling for your wedding ceremony. One of the barn’s most distinguished elements is its fabulous two-sided staircase, which is located at one end of the space. Perfect for your dramatic, all eyes-on-me entrance. As a recent renovation, Holford includes all of the modern facilities that you would expect, with some fabulous extras thrown in. From underfloor heating to the log burning stove, atmospheric lighting and en-suite dressing room. There is everything that you need here, for your wedding day to go off with a bang. The photos in and around the Estate will be second to none. For the drinks reception there is a gorgeous astro-turfed terrace complete with its own fire pit. The west-facing positioning of the terrace makes it a superb place to relax and catch up with everyone, before the dinner and dancing begin.

However, your wedding guests may prefer a stroll through the Estate’s beautiful grounds. Decorated with trees, flowers, manicured lawns and splendid details such as the ancient stone bridge, maze, knot garden and endless adjoining woodland, Holford Estate’s grounds are a spectacular sight. I utilised these grounds for the newlyweds to go on a walk together for some relaxed photographs. For those that want an outdoor ceremony, the expanse of space that Holford has at its disposal, means that there are plenty of options for holding a ceremony in the grounds too. For those that wish to stay the night, the recently renovated 16th century Mill House, is another divine space that makes up the Estate.
