What can I say about this superb wedding I photographed at the Hillbark Hotel earlier in the year. Jen & Col have quite the back story, and it was nothing short of a joy and privilege to celebrate their day with them. Camera in hand, I was asked to capture all the moments they shared with their loved ones. My speciality is un-posed Hillbark Hotel wedding photography and this is what Jen and Col were looking for. Real moments photographed, without intrusion from the professional photographer. A truly memorable and special wedding day to photograph.
The Hillbark Hotel – one of Cheshire’s finest wedding venues
Set on the Wirral, and among the Cheshire countryside lies a 5* Country House Hotel called the HillBark. In fact it is the only hotel in the north west to hold such a high accolade. The Tudor building has centred old architecture that is a sheer feast for the eyes. I can see why so many couples choose to get married at this award winning wedding venue. The old wooden beams feature in almost every room, and the wood panelling is a wedding photographers dream. It helps dark the backgrounds creating more striking photos. The light streams in through the large windows in each room – and none better than the ceremony service room.
The ceremony room is the big hall that lies central to Hillbark Hotel. Jen and Col were married here by celebrant Susan Foxall – one of the best in the wedding business. The civil ceremony was very emotional for everyone, especially Jen & Col’s children who were among the hundred or so guests watching on, tears in their eyes. Because the weather was nice, everyone headed outside for the drinks reception. Outside you find the pagoda. If you choose to, you can actually get wed under here. Something I would like to photograph at a wedding at Hillbark Hotel soon. It was a pleasure shooting this wedding on behalf of Dave Walters.

Are you looking for a photoshoot on your wedding? If so, I am NOT your wedding photographer. If you hate posing, then I am the photographer for you. I believe in capturing real moments without any suggest from any outside source such as the wedding photographer. Hillbark Hotel is no different. I loved shooting here in my natural documentary style as I do anywhere else in the country. Please get in touch to check to see if I am available for you.
For Couples Who LOVE Photography, But HATE Posing.
Steeped in history
The Hillbark Hotel is the perfect setting to be a wedding photographer. The building is steeped in glorious history. It’s hard to take bad images in fact, every angle you look, and every composition you create stunning wedding photos. After the drinks reception, it is back into the main hall for the breakfast. After a wonderful 3 course meal it was time for some of the funniest speeches I have ever heard. Hillbark Hotel’s gallery sits right above the top table, perfect for having a floral display for all your guests to see. The two brides then went for a short walk together to grab some air, and I tagged along for some relaxed portraits of them together.
Wedding Photography at Hillbark Hotel
Set next to lush parkland, right by Royden Park, Hillbark Hotel is the place to have the fairytale wedding you always wanted. The Hillbark Hotel is one of my favourites and excited about photographing a celebration here again next year. I love this place.
Later in the evening everyone headed through to the marquee at the back of this historic building. The stage was set for the live band to perform. But before this, one of their relatives wow-ed the wedding guests with the most amazing dance routine for the newly married couple. Firing hundreds of photos to just get the composition right, I think I managed to nail a couple of good pics. At the very end of the night, the brides, in their dresses, marched everyone outside for fireworks. The perfect ending to the perfect wedding. A massive congratulations to Jen and Col. Thank you for inviting me to be your Hillbark Hotel wedding photographer. If you are looking for a wedding photographer who doesn’t pose, then please get in touch to see if I am free for your wedding.
