Manchester Town Hall & Great John Street Hotel

So excited for blogging Tom & Helen’s wedding photography, quite an amazing day! This was my first Manchester Town Hall and Great John Street Hotel combo and it made for a superb Manchester City centre wedding. What a beautiful April day it was too, quite hot actually. Both Helen and Tom both got ready at the hotel. The hotel is an old school house, and has now been transformed into a luxury town house that is quite unique. Genuinely one of my favourite wedding venues in the UK and certainly the coolest.

Natural Wedding Photography at Manchester Town Hall

A London bus picked up all the wedding guests from the hotel and took them the short trip across Manchester to the Town Hall. A slight complication at Manchester Town Hall as a protest was taking place in Albert Square and therefore the main entrance at the front was locked and not in use. This made little difference though as the side entrance was used which looks rather good in photos. After their Manchester Town Hall wedding photography, it was back on the bus and back to Great John Street. Wedding singer Michael Mulholland entertained the guests as they enjoyed the reception on the roof terrace. This is when the fun really started… Tom and Helen had bought a beer pong table. If you haven’t heard of this before, then this is an American drinking game wheer you throw ping pong balls over a table and get them to land in cups. The cup the ball lands in, the other team must drink whatever concoction is in the cup. So much fun and made for good laughs, see below.

Party time at Great John Street Hotel

Crazy antics during the meal. One table decided to eat their entire starter without using their hands. Clip on nose masks (I’m sure they have a better name) where provided for all guests which was simply hilarious and then for some hugely funny speeches. Because Tom and Helen had bought exclusive use for the hotel, the evening party was held in the Oyster bar on the ground floor and what a party it was. More drink, a busy dance floor and Tom was even convinced to join the band for a song or two on the guitar (after initially saying no chance).

What an amazing day, top wedding, and huge congrats to Tom and Helen, and thank you to Herve Gillet for assisting on this. The beautiful flowers were by Sian at The Didsbury Flower Lounge

Yolanda Banfield - Have to say your photography is absolutely spot on.I hope one day I can get my work to the same standards as yours. I was telling my daughter about your work and when I mentioned your name, she told me she knows your wife as she used to work at the nursery with her, in Flixton. And I have moved from Stretford to Kearsley just up the road from you…small world eh. 🙂
