It was a pleasure to be asked by an old school friend to capture their wedding day. I was even more thrilled to photograph away from Manchester and near to my home town of Stamford. Oakham, just 10 miles away, is a beautiful town with lots of old stone buildings. James and Kim had their wedding at Oakham castle, which is full of history. The most striking feature of the castle is the scores of horse shoes attached to the interior walls. This glorious venue was crying out for black and white photos!
Kimberley had her preparation at her mothers home where she grew up, and her three bridesmaids made the entire morning a lot of fun. A vintage bus was the transport for the day, although it did take a while travelling along the narrow country roads. After the ceremony, the grounds to the castle were perfect for natural portraits of James and Kim together. The wedding moved to their beloved local pub for a hog roast and a great evening party!
