The Castlefield area of Manchester has to be my favourite locations for a pre wedding and engagement shoots. On a wedding day I don’t get to dictate where ‘moments’ happen and I have learnt to make best use of the light available to me in every situation. But for a pre wedding shoot, you get to choose the locations, which makes Castlefield so much fun. Because of the unique architecture, the quality of the light changes drastically in just a few feet but this can be used to good effect. An experienced wedding photographer can work with this type of lighting, finding the optimum balance of source light and background light creating stunning portraits. In all the photos in this blog, you should see a gorgeous balanced light, creating beautiful and balance skin tones.
Louise and Adam get married next month at The Lowery Theatre. They asked for urban type shots to match the urban photos from their wedding in Salford Quays. The photos below were all taken in just 45 minutes, and they had both never had professional photos taken before. Yes, in the first 10 minutes everything feels a little strange as a weird looking guy (me) chats away and fires a few shots, but I very quickly ease you into it. I don’t make you do anything uncomfortable, and for 90% of the shots below, other than asking Louise and Adam to stand on a particular spot, or lean against a wall, I gave no other direction at all. It’s just them, being together.
If you’re getting married, or even if you’re not, a photo shoot together is fun and gives you a set of beautiful photos you can cherish for the rest of your lives. Keep an eye out for Louise and Adam’s wedding photos in the coming weeks. David
