I was so excited that Sarah & Phil asked me to be their Gorton Monastery wedding photographer as I have photographed here before and new how amazing it was! For those who don’t know, hidden in the middle of Manchester (Gorton) is an old dis-used monastery. To help fund it’s repair it was decided to turn it into a wedding venue. It has now become one of Manchester’s best wedding venues! Mainly due to it’s sheer size and the reaction guests have wen they first walk inside, but also their clever use of lighting to give it a modern feel.
Sarah and the girls got ready at her parents house before heading over to Gorton Monastery for the wedding ceremony and reception. I met with Phil before hand, and when Sarah and Phil’s son turned up after being with Granny, I found myself welling up as Phil had the most precious moment with his son. I too have a boy of similar age and could imagine how special that moment was.
Purple was the order of the day, dresses… up-lighters, flowers, table decorations and it was done incredibly well. The awesome flowers, the bouquets and table flowers were all designed and made by Sian and the guys at The Flower Lounge in Didsbury. Possibly the best place in Manchester to get your wedding flowers from!
Sarah’s parents had a surprise for all the guests… singing waiters. 4 men acted as waiters for the entire day, laughing and joking with guests, serving drinks as waiters do. Then, just as the desserts were served, they burst into a medley of songs, with jokes – truly fantastic entertainment. It wasn’t until the very end they lost their eastern European accents they had carried all day and returned to their normal Cockney accents.
This was such an enjoyable wedding and I loved every second of it. very much looking forward to photographing my next Gorton Monastery wedding in Manchester. Below are a selection of photos from the day, please have a look through.
