Couples Engagement Photography – Adam & Nicola

Adam & Nicola requested they had their couples engagement shoot at the beach. So last Thursday we headed to Formby Point in the North West and we hoped and prayed for a sunset. Didn’t we get lucky, and it all ended with a bit of fire too…

Before we clambered over the sand-dunes, we took a stroll through the deep-dark-wood (sorry, I have a two year old and all we watch is The Grufferlo), so we took a stroll through the Red Squirrel Forest. Now, I’ve been here a few times and only ever once seen an infamous red squirrel,  well we saw one! I have proof below.

Whilst the sun was quite high in the Sky and very strong, that was great for the woods, but what we really were hoping for was the perfect sunset on the beach. So over the dunes we went.

From this point, quite a large cloud blocked much of the sun-set, so we waited for the sun to drop lower and lower in the sky, and for it to go all colourful and fuzzy. It was such a beautiful evening. For me, this is the perfect couples engagement photography anyone could wish for.

As the tide was coming in, it actually started to flow along a wide in-let and flood the area behind Nicola and Adam. An opportunity couldn’t be missed to get the reflection in the foreground too. So we pretty much sprinted 100 yards across the sand to get this, and the others.

Just as the sunset was coming to an end, and it was getting quite dark, we saw a ball ball of flames behind us. We ran over, and some students were practicing fire breathing and taking photos themselves. I’ts hard to describe how dark it was, without the flames, the ground was totally dark in the photos, but once it came, it lit everything up with lovely warm tones. What a special ending to Adam and Nicola’s couples engagement photography.

Now lookig forward to their wedding at Combermere Abbey in the summer. A huge thank you to photographer Andy Keher who came along to have a play.
