“From start to finish David felt like part of the wedding party…” Mary & Paul
Bolton School Wedding
This was the first wedding at Bolton School I had photographed, and it was an absolute cracker. A couple of months before the wedding Mary, Paul and their son Oliver had a family shoot at Smithill Farm so it was great to see them again for their big day. Mary chose to get ready at home and all the family were involved in all aspects of planning this wonderful family orientated wedding. Mary and Paul had chosen purple for the theme of their wedding and Mary’s dress was elegant and stunning.
The wedding service took place at Bolton Parish Church. This very large and impressive church has great potential for some incredible photo opportunities. One of my favourite was Mary’s approach to the church as she looks in smiling nervously. This was the first of many great photos. The inside of the church is impressive with its incredible stained glass windows. The sun flooded through the stained glass illuminating the couple as they said their vows. What an amazing opportunity to catch beautiful photos of what was such a pleasant service.
After some family photos on the lawns by the church, we all headed off to have their Bolton School wedding reception. There was a large amount of children at the wedding and games had been set out on the lawn for their amusement. The mood was happy and relaxed as more pictures were taken in the lovely warm sunshine. It wasn’t however just the children who played games!
As the sun started to set there were some impressive photos which perfectly captured the evening sun. As the pianist played through the wedding meal, we all enjoyed the most delicious food served by Bolton School. There were lots of lovely personal touches to the wedding meal including some perfectly marvellous vintage tea cups. The mood was relaxed and this reflected the fun family orientated bride and groom perfectly. A nice idea was a candy table with a huge selection of sweets for the children much to the children’s delight. In the evening, as the sun set, this wasn’t an opportunity to miss and I took one of my favourite photos of the day, the one above, Mary and Paul silhouetted against the bright and warm sun.
This was a very enjoyable wedding with the bride, groom and all the guests dancing late into the night. Bolton school weddings now hold a very special place in my heart and I’m looking forward to my next one.
Some of Mary & Paul’s favourite memories from their day:
“Beautiful, blazing sunshine! Relaxed morning getting ready with champagne Belinis. My beautiful dress with its lace train (I love the picture at the church of Nichola pulling out the bottom of my dress!) The grand church with the bells ringing! Our lovely church service, with special readings from my mum & nephew Zane. My beautiful bridesmaids and mum. Seeing Oliver in his suit- he looked stunningly smart. Chauffeured in our beautiful wedding car – thank you Horgans. Getting to our Bolton school wedding reception, relaxing on the headmasters lawn with Pimms & Peroni. Watching the kids play with the lawn games! Oliver having lots of fun with his friends and family! The spectacular pianist that played over the wedding breakfast. The best mans dodgy speech! lol. Family & friends being together & so happy! The sunset. Oliver dancing (night fever style) in the evening disco! Our first dance…..and then arctic monkeys dance!! Everyone scoffing the candy buffet!
We have so many special memories of my day, from small things to the big important ones! We have looked through our memories box and guestbook and all my guests commented what a fantastic day they had, they mentioned the beautiful, hot weather, Oliver, the food, the vintage theme wedding breakfast decoration, the relaxed and happy atmosphere…oh and the look on Paul’s face when he saw me in my dress!”
“From start to finish David felt like part of the wedding party! Enjoying Champagne Belini’s with the bridal party in the morning and interacting/mingling with guests throughout the day! David had managed to capture all aspects of the days highs, from the beautiful church and grounds at the wedding reception to my favourite time when the children where enjoying games on the ‘headmasters lawn’ and adult guests enjoying a refreshing Pimms or Peroni! Oh and not forgetting dancing the night away, celebrating a fabulous day.
Paul and I are so happy with our unique wedding photos that tell the story of our beautiful wedding day! Sunshine, relaxing, fun & photos that are timeless!” – Mary & Paul
